What REGION of Town are you from?
Fortitude, it's home and all but it's boring as all hell. I want some adventure, some vibrancy, instead I get a beautiful, peaceful but ultimately boring view.
Are you from one of the SHRINE FAMILIES?
yeah, I'm a Vasili. I've got an affinity for fire. I usually dance to do the big-ass rituals, but my main duty is lighting the lamps at the entrances, nightly loop. I finish up at the lighthouse and I can tell you that thing has far too many fucking stairs.
Who is your GUARDIAN? Is it a parent? If not, what happened to your parents?
you know how people in Fortitude find homes and family? that happened. shit went down so there's a few of us that have ended up here like that.
closest thing I have to a guardian would be aunt Aneta, she's one of the doctors. nice enough, practical but will avoid spending money like the plague, using things until they're completely worn out, spent most of her life poor I guess, so she really doesn't like me going to Arcadia so often. good doctor but likely to tell you precisely what you did wrong or were an idiot to do to get the injury, guess where I learnt the swearwords.
Have you had dealings with the FORTITUDE RATS?
yeah, they're cool. that loop I mentioned to light the fires? I tend to go round the edge of Fortitude so I pass by a fair few of them on the rooftops.
Do you go to School? (And if not, why not, and how have you escaped Principal Entropy's efforts to get you back in classes?)
course I do, dangerous, weird or outright corrupting at least School is interesting.
What INTERESTS do you have?
man where do I start? let's go with reading. Mostly adventure and fantasy, I'm kind of a geek when it comes to pop culture and love reading, cosplayed in Arcadia a few times. I'd call myself genre savvy, but I may have just been on tvtropes too long.
I like dancing and athletics/acrobatics stuff too, exploring and just trotting across the rooftops is magical. perhaps that's why I got into the reading, gives me the adventure I never really had.
What have you HAD ENOUGH OF?
so you know the Vasili have this thing about true love? I just don't fucking get it, and everyone just goes on and on about it. seriously even when I got tired of the pestering and try to do anything romantic I cock it up. badass I can do, sexy I can do, but romantic? I fucking set fire to the tablecloth, sent someone over the edge of the Bridge into Bluebell Park's lake, a dog ate some flowers left for me...
I think it's just because I don't get it, I don't see how it's more important than having amazing adventures or friends you'd give anything for, but it's kind of a staple of being a Vasili. I don't get it, am I broken or something?

aridFirefly: you can have two rough status states in the Vasili family. the first is that you're their darling, they love you and will back you to the Outside and back. you're special and your life is overflowing with love. the second is that... well, they still love you, but you're... not that good. it's a bit patronising really, it's a pat on the head kind of love, it's a 'you're still one of us' kind of love. it's... not that filling really, always made me prickly and frustrated.
aridFirefly: maybe Aneta got that, she doesn't do the head pat thing, she tells you to make yourself useful and doesn't give a shit who you are if you've got a good pair of hands, willing to help and can follow instructions. she doesn't sugarcoat things, I like that. whatever it is, I was little and people were so fucking patronising, little prickly fireball - yes worse than I am now, shut up.
aridFirefly: then Jade Irinka died.
aridFirefly: the sun died and hope died and everyone in the Vasili just kinda walked outside and looked up to the sky like they were completely lost. complete darkness, complete silence. this is the Vasili, we don't do silence. even Aneta cried, and that? that isn't meant to happen.
aridFirefly: now my thing is the Will of Fire. so I look around in the darkness at everyone and little kid brain goes, 'light gave them hope, right? so let's give them light.'
aridFirefly: so I start moving. fuck sadness, fuck despair, I've got to do something. the fire's still there so the least I can fucking do is share my will with others. I grab a lantern and as many candles and torches I can find. the candles go on the Vasili windowsills, lighting each one as I go and slowly seeing the others kind of just blink at me and start to come back to themselves when I tell them hope comes from good solid work. but when I see that I go. 'well, what about everyone else in Fortitude, out in the dark and the quiet. have they got anyone to remind them they're still alive?'
aridFirefly: so I keep moving, keep going. I carry this big torch through the streets until I get to the main road out, plant it there, keep going. windows I go past have people looking out or people already out in the street react. some follow me, some grab torches of their own. I tell them to look after the torches and make sure they don't go out. I keep going round the edge of Fortitude, just this little girl going through the darkness and too damn stubborn to quit. It got people moving, got people spreading their own light and fire.
aridFirefly: I keep going until I've looped the place hours later but it doesn't feel done yet. then I realise there are sailors out at sea and the lighthouse isn't on, given it was daytime before the sun died. I'd expect them to have it on by now and think something must be wrong, so I go up, me and my little lantern. needn't have rushed, the lighthouse keeper was bloody waiting for me. they'd seen the torches being lit, each causing a wave of smaller lights that had spread through the place and a Vasili dropped by to tell them it was one of theirs doing it so they decided to leave it until I reached them.
aridFirefly: so right there, up on that thin bloody ring platform and shitting myself thinking I was gonna fall off it I began to dance as they lit it. ever been up that high? it's amazing, the wind's cold and bracing, but I could see everything. I saw Fortitude lit up, all that fire standing against the darkness like a great big fuck you. it was amazing, knowing I'd been the spark for all that. people kept them burning too. the sun came back quickly enough, but I did the route again next day, done it every day since.
aridFirefly: now the other Vasili don't look at me like they're patronising me, but I'm not loved. they just... don't know quite what to do with me. I still get the mutters about not acting like a 'proper' Vasili but now when the elders look at me it's with wariness or a 'what will she become' look, like I'm a puzzle they're not quite sure they want to solve or a time bomb. mostly the time bomb thing.
aridFirefly: it's weird and I don't know what to make of it, but I guess I've made more friends from the loop than I would in the Vasilis anyway, so I'm not complaining too much. and that's what happened to me the day Jade Irinka died.

- Your Aunt decided that if you're going around Fortitude so much, you should be able to help people who need it. You'll normally have a few plasters and maybe a bandage with you, and you know basic first aid.
(Skill Perk: +1 First Aid)
- Outside Dust seems to react strangely when you offer it to the flames. Normally it changes colours, but sometimes it burns a window into another time or place. You keep a handful with you just in case, though you don't know what it means.
(Skill Perk: Superior Affinity for Fire gains a Trick to let you use it to see a random vision.)
- Bluebell Park doesn't just turn out badly for you, the place seems to actively dislike you. Things try to change around you, and you get caught up in them in the worst possible way, like a weight on a tablecloth. It might be because you're just good at *being* in a way that makes it hard for reality to shift around you.

What kind of SYLLADEX do you use?
logo. it's kind of like a cross between a dial and a maze, I just need to remember where everything is. stuff gets weird if you tell it to turn 360 degrees though.
Where do you LIVE? Specifically: What is your house or home like? How many other people live in it? Pets? How is it decorated? That kind of stuff.
in a house in the Vasili compound. kinda out of the way of the main stuff and nearer the outside, Aneta's a doctor after all. we're both kinda outcasts I think, that's why she took me in. house is simple, got Aneta's consulting room with a kitchen and dining room downstairs, our rooms, bathroom and spare room upstairs and a landing thing overlooking the hall downstairs that connects everything. it's clean and mostly wood-and-whitewash.
there's a lot of little old things around though, little animals and things she's picked up or I've bought. mostly cheap stuff like wood polished until it shines or stone, but there are a few glass things. lots of dragons, fair few cats, the soapstone cow (no-one knows why anyone would make it, but it was a christmas present and cute) and the pumice rock that's not-quite smooth that looks like some kind of sleeping thing but we're sure what.
Can you tell us some BASICS?
uhhh... I guess? I like fried chinese/japanese style food, or most things fried with a tasty marinade. I'm not bad at academics I guess, but I'm not a let down when it comes to brainpower. my athletics is better though, it's all the running for the loop. oh, and I can make dreamcatchers, it's easier than it seems, and you can make the thread for them without needing to think, keeps my hands busy.
