ZorroShe looks up at you and sniffs, and then nods, ready to go. You lead her to the TOP FLOOR and sneak out through a door in the CLOCK FACE, leading you outside. From up here, you can see the possessed woman prowling around the base of the tower, still looking for a way in. Deep gouges in the door attest to her frustration. The wind blows, and you are suddenly aware of just how high up you are... but you also notice a TELEPHONE LINE that goes from the clock tower to a nearby building. If you could climb across the line somehow, you could escape the cat-spirit entirely. A search of the rooms for anything useful turns up enough pieces of wire and fabric to make a makeshift ZIPLINE HARNESS. You also find a MYSTERIOUS BLACK BOX which is labelled "Wi-Fi Repeater. Do Not Ingest." with a blinking green light on it. It doesn't seem to be attached to anything. I'm assuming you abscond down the zipline; where will you head after that? Are you taking the mysterious box with you? AmyYou find a chocolate shop, THORNBERRY'S. A LIFE-SIZED CHOCOLATE SQUIDDLE catches your eye, and you're sure it would make an excellent present. As you're waiting in line to pay for it, a colour distracts you. This time it is an ACTUAL SQUIDDLE floating in mid-air. Nobody else seems to be reacting to it, so you're fairly sure it's somehow part of your dreams. It addresses you in a high-pitched squeaky voice. "You should run. Run now!" It wiggles its tentacles frantically. "There isn't much time! Fleeeeeeeee!" AkiThe girl looks up and smiles at you. "Da, we always are needing more help. More work than can be done by one pair of hands! But Horizon post, some of it has not arrived; perhaps machines are stuck? Maybe you can go and see if you fix them?" She uses a toe to point out one of the doors without slowing down. "Just be careful, da?" ZetoYou stow the AutoSpanner in its handy camelCase and make your way into the Steamworks Gardens. The various rooms are just as filled with mysterious devices as you remembered; the steam-operated Venus flytrap is particularly impressive. You find Matty and Rinley hidden behind a cardboard replica of Castle Heterodyne.

Matty sighs and shakes his head at RINLEY. "Let me handle this, but you should find a way to tell or show him you're sorry later." He makes shooing away hands at her, and then comes out from their HIDING PLACE and strolls towards LEONARDO DA MONTREAL. On the way he spots ZETO out of the corner of his eye and she is treated to a genuine and beaming SMILE. The SMILE is still present as he turns back to LEONARDO. "Hi there! I couldn't help but notice you seem to be buying a lot of things today, Monsieur da Montreal. I'd love to hear what you have planned for it. I have a little time spare, so would you like me to help you with your cart and carrying things for a while?"
"Let me help you (with that)" Basic Quest
Also, maybe Discovery or Foreshadowing depending on how he reacts?

Gasping Amy looks around for IMMINENT DANGER.
There doesn't seem to be any, but when has a SQUIDDLE ever steered her wrong? Never! Well, not yet anyway. (Very) reluctantly she places the CHOCOLATE SQUIDDLE back on the shelf and darts outside.
What could there possibly be to FLEE from?

Aki's progress into the next room was met with a squeak of gears and the loud whirring/whumping of the ANCIENT MACHINE taking up most of the room. There were still things coming out of it though, and most of the large conveyor belts were still dumping post steadily into the FUNNELS that looked like elephant trunks. Unfortunately two of the funnels near the back were overflowing to the point of causing small LANDSLIDES when the conveyor belt tried to load more post into the funnel. A cautious inspection led to three conclusions, firstly, that something on the right hand side was producing the a HIGH PITCHED SQUEALING; secondly, something had gotten UTTERLY LODGED in the trunk-funnel of the left; thirdly, that she had no idea how to take it apart to fix it, even if she could guess at the problems. "You know, this would be one of those times I really wish I could talk to Zeto." she muttered, making sure her hair was securely tied back, "Well, sooner I start the sooner I finish..." Intention to FIX THE MACHINE! Will 2 + (Not so) Secret Geek 1 = Intention 3
(If it's opposed I can use connection 1 to Zeto to get inspiration on how to fix it, or Athletics to survive post avalanches if that is more appropriate)

Zeto has no particular desire to interact with Leonardo right now, instead choosing to take a turn at the STEAM ORGAN while she waits for MATTY to be done with him. As an aspiring MUSICIAN and frequenter of the Steamworks, she is of course familiar with its OPERATION and begins improvising something fairly simple but LIGHT-HEARTED. Of course, she can't resist the urge to make a few ADJUSTMENTS of her own to the organ first... but it's a PUBLIC EXHIBIT, nobody's going to mind, right? Matty:"Ah, _excellent_, somebody who recognises my _incomparable genius_. Yes, these are parts for a resonating crystal astrolabe which I shall need. It's obvious that you can't maintain bindings of the strength needed to run the _Incomparable Nightmare Engine_ without proper astronomantic precision, and even _commoners_ should be able to recognise the need for my experiments. Why, only the other day that _scoundrel_ Rinley almost destroyed it when she was trying to catch an escaped thought. Can you _imagine_ the calamity if..."His ranting washes over you and you see Rinley sneak past in the background, flashing you a thumbs-up as she leaps for the EXIT. Eventually, he winds down as you finish loading the parts into the chest cavity of a partially-cyborgified HORSE. Now might be a good time to make your own escape... Yeah, you can take the quest XP, and you can have a Discovery here AkiYou turn the machine off and climb atop it, poking around the innards, tightening nuts and changing rollers. The grease of the machine seems to get everywhere, mingling with your sweat as you work. You have the feeling that the machine is being contrary, but a well-placed kick and some creative epithets convince it to see things your way. About half an hour later, you throw the lever to turn it back on with a flourish, wiping your brow. The belt squeals again for a moment, but then catches, and with a *spoik* sound, a package pops out onto the belt - addressed to you. It's merely the first of another endless stream that is whisked off to the main sorting room, where you hear faintly "Ha! Take it up a level, da? Maybe I have to use both feet now!" ZetoYou tinker with the ORGAN a bit. You're fairly sure it sounds better, even if the people listening don't seem to notice the difference. Clearly it's because of your FOX EARS that you can hear it better. Yeah, XP for quest is fine AmySome people around you are pointing at the sky; if you squint, you can make out a tiny dot that's getting bigger very quiCKLY AAAH THAT'S A METEOR. Everything is confused and panicked - and after a blast of sound and heat and being pelted with rocks, the site where the shop once stood has been replaced with a neat round crater, smoking slightly. The CHOCOLATE SQUIDDLE lands - miraculously intact - at your feet, its face slightly melted into a crazed grin. (Everyone who isn't Amy also hears the impact - if you're in ARCADIA, it's incredibly loud; in FORTITUDE or HORIZON it's a distant boom.) ZorroThe crash of the METEOR's impact causes Edony to squeak adorably and hold on tighter as you ride your NOBLE STEED. You made a DARING ESCAPE down the zipline, the story of which will cement - no, FURTHER cement - your reputation as the most dashing Rat since GUILLERMO THREESWORDS. You halt on a grocery store whose roof juts out dramatically over the street corner, and turn to Edony. "umm, i, could you take me home? only it's probably a long way and, umm, i don't know my way from here," she says. "you can, umm, stay for a cup of tea, umm, if you want, that is, i mean, i should have something better for you but, umm, the detective business doesn't pay, that, well,,," she trails off. "i mean, you probably need to go investigate, umm, whatever that was, or do other, heroic deeds,"

Zorro agrees to take the erstwhile young detective home, and pockets the WIFI BOX THINGY while he's at it. He deduces that the sound came from the direction of Arcadia, and asks his companion if she minds thair departure homewards to be slightly delayed by him pestering his frend Amy to check she has not been exploded. It is tricky for him to ride and pester at the same time due to the INCOVINEATNTLY HUMAN-SIZED COMPUTING DEVICE he carries. <nibblingQuestant> Hello, Ami? Are you exploded? <shiningHugs> Nearly! <sH> It was really really angsty and tuesday and the SKY MIGHT BE FALLING <sH> I mean, that's what normally causes these thing. <sH> Things. <sH> Words, I has them. Honest. <sH> Anyhow, how are you? <nQ> I am quite well thank you <nQ> Are you in need of assistance? <sH> Noooot right now. <sH> I mean, the chocolate shop is gone, and that's one of the worst of things. <sH> But the sky doesn't actually seem to be falling and there aren't any dragons around. <sH> So I think we're good. <sH> There might be some injured people that need helping. <nQ> If there were dragons, be assured I would be there pronto, forthwith, and probbably even very fast as well <sH> Yay! <sH> Especially if they're the tea drinking kind. <nQ> Well, I'm afraid I have a damsel I need to escort out of distress before I can assist with injured people or problems arising from the lack of chocolate <sH> Ooooh. <sH> Good speed, Sir Knight! <nQ> Thank you >^^<

PAAAANICCC!!! Amy quickly pinches herself to determine that she is AWAKE, that the SKY did just start FALLING despite this being REALITY where such things generally do not happen. Wait, no, it was just a METEOR. Ignoring the mournful loss of the CHOCOLATE SQUIDDLE she is far far more concerned with the complete obliteration of the best CHOCOLATE SHOP ever (mostly due to aforementioned SQUIDDLE). Still, there are far greater concerns.
Like where did the Squiddle come from? How did it know this would happen? Why so suddenly meteors? Why are there still people?
Donning her serious face Amy brushes off the remains of shop, ground and other debris and starts looking for the INJURED and DYING to BEFREIND- err, HELP. Or FIRES to put out, if they're in the way.
> INTENT 4: Disaster Relief! (Teenage Shrine Maiden + 2 Will == 4)
Note: If the squiddle of warning is sticking around I will be having questions of it.

Aki triumphantly snatches the game at the instant a deep boom sounds, making her jump and worry that she'd managed to break the damn thing just when she'd thought she was done. Given the packages are still flowing it must have been something else, though it said something for the company she kept that an explosion didn't seem that out of the ordinary until she realised she was in Fortitude. "Oh crap." Dammit she REALLY wished she had a mobile computer now! What had happened? Where was it? Were her friends okay? Dammit dammit dammit now she really needed to run. She shot out the door with a polite wave and thanks to the sorting lady before leaping up to the rooftops, mind set on speed and home. Intention 4: Get home quickly! Athletics 2 + Will 2
Also, Disc get! Do I get 3xp for getting the game or only when I convince/get someone to act as my server player?

Zeto SCOWLS briefly as her music is RUDELY INTERRUPTED by the deafening crash of the impact. She stops playing and looks around to see if there's any sign of what just happened. That didn't sound like someone's machine EXPLODING on them - for that matter, it didn't sound like it was coming from within the Steamworks at all. She looks around for Matty and Rinley.

Matty waves goodbye to Montreal with a CHEERFUL GRIN, and turns to see where the others went. And then the BOOM hits. He looks around, half expecting it to be Rinley. It isn't. AH. Right. Looks like buying SBURB might be more difficult than anticipated... Matty looks over to Zeto and GRINS. "Ya coming to see what it was? Could be exciting...." (If looks like she's following, he will run off in the direction of the Boom.) XP towards SBURB quest for unexpected difficulties?

ZorroYou escort Edony back to her home - which seems to be an office in a cheap part of Horizon, near the border with Fortitude. A peeling piece of paper stuck to the window reads "Marguerite Magical Detective Agency". Inside, a kettle and microwave take up a table in the waiting room and the other room, separated by a mostly-rather-grimy-glass wall, has a desk with a tall chair behind it. She wanders over to the kettle and starts it boiling, putting out two mugs which read "F RTI UD WAT R COM ANY" and "Horizon School Canteen - Please Do Not Steal Mug". You start to talk over the cups of tea and she gradually calms down a little. You can do a Sympathetic Action, Foreshadowing or Shared Reaction XP action here - whichever one you choose, maybe post a snippet of conversation that exposits something: why you're an adventurer, where you found such an AWESOME MOUNT, etc. AmyYou join the effort to pull people out of the warm rubble. There are POOLS OF MOLTEN CHOCOLATE everywhere. Oddly enough, everything that was a certain radius from the strike zone seems to have survived mostly intact, apart from a bit of light blasting. Everything within the blast radius, however, seems to have been utterly annihilated. The SQUIDDLE has disappeared at some point, but you do find the CROW that stole your disks, solidified inside a chunk of chocolate. A set of CHOCOLATE-COATED SBURB DISCS is right next to it. AkiWith a 4 you will indeed get home fairly quickly. You don't get the 3XP yet, you have to reach the point where the server player connects to claim that. You reach your HOUSE in record time - though you don't have any lantern oil with you today, which helps lighten the load. Your AUNT seems to be out, though she's left a note for you attached to the fridge. It is in typically DOCTORLIKE handwriting and reads "Szm idoot injureld self on Hiryuu, wonot be back tlll lete. Foed in frodge." You boot up the COMPUTER and start the INSTALLER going. It shows a strange spirograph-like image and starts playing music as soon as it's in the drive. Matty, ZetoYou move outside. A CROWD is formed outside the smoking crater that used to be THORNBERRY'S CHOCOLATE SHOP. On the plus side, the queue at GAMESTART for SBURB DISCS is now much shorter, since people have been distracted. Rinley has jumped down into the crater at some point and is examining part of the wreckage with a giant magnifying glass. Matty: If anything it's made things easier, so no XP just yet. It'll come in time

It occurs to me that being nearly vaporised by a meteor when buying chocolates counts as 'Suffer unusual difficulty in what should be a simple task' so should that have given me a quest xp? Amy looks around in complete befuddlement at this turn of affairs and quickly pinches herself to confirm that, yes, this place is very reality shaped. "This really doesn't make any sense..." She mutters to herself, snatching up the CHOCOLATE-COATED SBURB DISCS and frowning at them. "I mean, impact craters shouldn't work like that here. It's not really Dreamlike either, because total annihilation. Therefore we're dealing with an incursion that brings it's own ruleset with it. Probably somewhat Outsidery in nature. I wonder if there's any lingering effects..." She muses for a moment before blinking. "Also, pools of Molten Chocolate." She states, moving around one. "What's up with that?" She stops, conveniently near to Rinley and OTHER PEOPLE OF IMPORTANCE. "Oh well, only one way to find out, really." She closes her eyes and focuses for a moment. Okayyy, performing a Science, Faith and Sorcery xp action by testing if there's any Outsideryness/Dreamness left near the IMPACT CRATORB, using an intent of Superior Dreamer 3 + Will 1 = 4 to try something not normally possible in Town (aka magical hair braiding) by believing that I can, because I'm awesome like that. Possibly with glowing.

Zorro lends a sympathetic ear to the difficulties of running a detective agency, and the two compare notes on the various MYSTERIES and WEIRD EVENTS they have encountered. Zorro sets Sugburb to begin dowloading while they talk, on the offchance the Wifi here is strong enough. He mentions a few of his weirder adventures, and they speculate about the sorce of the incomeing metiors. Surely it must be the work of the RIDERS rather than being from space. Is space even a Thing? He is fairly sure space is not a Thing.
In any case, there is a mystery to solve, and probbably a villan to combat, or at least someone to blame!
